Barons Top Titans, 5-1
Darlington, SC— Trinity Collegiate dropped a 5-1 decision to Wilson Hall on Wednesday, as the Barons used a key fifth inning to pull away.
Wilson Hall broke through in the top of the fifth, capitalizing on a Trinity error before Peyton Gilley delivered a double to center field and Henry Jones followed with a single, each driving in a run to extend the lead.
Drew Cockrell started on the mound for Trinity, working five innings while allowing four runs (one earned) on nine hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
Offensively, Trinity was led by Davidson Lynch and Garrison Copeland, who each recorded two hits. Tyler Smart drove in the Titans' lone run of the game.
Wilson Hall's Benson Elmore earned the complete-game victory, allowing just one run (unearned) on six hits while striking out four. The Barons totaled 12 hits on the day, with Cameron Wilsey pacing the offense with a 3-for-4 performance. Elmore also contributed two hits, and Wilson Hall turned a double play defensively.
Trinity will look to bounce back when they travels to Wilson Hall for a rematch on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
