Trinity Takes Care of Lions on Senior Night
Darlington, SC- The Trinity Collegiate varsity baseball team used a four-run third inning to pull away for a 7-1 win over King's Academy on Monday at Rhea Field.
The Titans opened the scoring in the second inning when John Charles delivered an RBI single to give Trinity an early 1-0 advantage.
Trinity broke the game open in the third, plating four runs to extend the lead. Garrison Copeland scored on a sacrifice fly, Robert Mack drove in two runs with a double, and another run came home on a wild pitch to put the Titans firmly in control.
Drew Cockrell earned the win on the mound for Trinity, allowing just one unearned run on four hits over four innings while striking out two and walking none. Miller Buchanan and Gavin Holt combined for three shutout innings in relief to preserve the win.
The Titans collected multiple strong performances at the plate, led by Robert Mack, who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Brody Phillips also added two hits as Trinity finished with four stolen bases in the contest.
King's Academy managed four hits in the game, with Cole Turner driving in the Lions' lone run. Jackson Alexander, Turner, Wesley Boyce, and Brayden Grier each recorded a hit for King's Academy.
The Titans return to action Tuesday when they host Cheraw at Rhea Field in the regular season finale. First pitch is set for 6:30 PM.
