Late Rally Costs Titans
Bluffton, SC — Trinity Collegiate dropped a tightly contested game Friday as a late rally by Hilton Head Christian Academy lifted the Eagles to a 3–2 victory.
The Titans held a 2–1 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but Hilton Head Christian Academy capitalized on timely hitting to take control. Aaron Campos delivered the decisive blow with a two-run single that turned the one-run deficit into the eventual winning margin.
Despite the loss, Trinity Collegiate outhit the Eagles 6–5. Prue Branyon paced the Titans' offense with a standout performance at the plate, collecting three hits.
Trinity broke through in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead. A wild pitch allowed one run to score, and William Fox followed with an RBI single down the right-field line to make it 2–1.
Hilton Head Christian responded in the bottom half of the inning. A bases-loaded walk tied the game before Campos' single brought home two runs to give the Eagles the lead for good.
Hucks Kirven turned in a strong start on the mound for the Titans, allowing just one run on three hits over five innings while striking out six and walking two.
Fox drove in a run for Trinity and finished 1-for-2 at the plate. The Titans also flashed solid defense, turning a double play during the game.
Hilton Head Christian was led by Campos, who drove in two runs. Several Eagles recorded one hit apiece as the home team finished with five total hits and committed no errors in the field.
Trinity Collegiate will look to bounce back Monday when the Titans travel to East Clarendon.
