JV Baseball Victorious in McBee
McBee, SC- Trinity Collegiate's junior varsity baseball squad wasted no time taking control on Thursday, rolling to a 14-5 win over McBee behind an explosive start at the plate.
The Titans set the tone in the top of the first inning, as William Fox delivered a two-run triple before George Taflinger followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0 early. Trinity kept its foot on the gas in the second inning, erupting for seven runs on seven hits to break the game open. Iyhon Robinson, Caleb Saleeby, Prue Branyon, Reagan Huxford, and Eli Flowers all contributed RBI hits during the big frame, while an additional run scored on a wild pitch.
Saleeby earned the start on the mound, striking out seven over 3.1 innings while allowing five runs, three of them earned. Robinson was sharp in relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out two.
At the plate, the Titans piled up 15 hits in a balanced offensive effort. Robinson and Saleeby led the way with three hits apiece, while Robinson, Fox, and Saleeby each drove in two runs. Flowers added a pair of hits, and Grayson Stengel reached base twice via walks as part of an eight-walk team performance.
Fox was a major factor on the basepaths, swiping six bases as the Titans totaled 10 stolen bases in the game.
McBee was led offensively by Bentley Chambers, Thomas Rhoad, Mason Isgett, and Clark Morrell, who each recorded a hit. Cam Stone, Aiden Bullard, Chambers, and Isgett each drove in a run. Defensively, McBee played a clean game without committing an error, with Chambers leading the way with eight fielding chances.
Trinity Collegiate JV baseball will return to action at home on Thursday, March 26th against East Clarendon with the first pitch set of 6:30 PM.
