Golden Warriors Prevail Over Titans in JV Matchup
Darlington, SC- The Trinity Collegiate Titans outhit the John Paul II Golden Warriors but couldn't convert at the plate in key moments, falling 5-1 in a JV contest at Rhea Field on Friday.
Trinity collected five hits compared to just three for John Paul II, with Marshall Campbell, William Fox, Caleb Saleeby, Eli Flowers, and Prue Branyon each recording one hit. Despite the offensive effort, the Titans were unable to string together timely hits to produce runs.
The game remained scoreless through four innings before John Paul II broke through in the fifth, taking advantage of a sacrifice situation to plate the game's first run. They added insurance runs late to pull away.
Hucks Kirven delivered a strong start on the mound for the Titans, allowing just one hit and one unearned run over five innings while striking out three and walking one. His performance kept Trinity in control for much of the game.
Prue Branyon accounted for Trinity's lone RBI, going 1-for-2 from the three spot in the lineup. The Titans also showed defensive discipline, turning a double play.
John Paul II capitalized on limited opportunities, with Jhosep Ramirez, Rawles Moore, and Carter Whiteside each tallying a hit. The Golden Warriors applied pressure on the basepaths throughout the game, swiping four bases and converting key scoring chances.
The Titans will look to bounce back as they return home to face East Clarendon on Thursday. First pitch in Darlington is set for 6:30 PM
