JV Baseball Tops Bears 16-1
Darlington, SC — Trinity Collegiate plated runs in every inning and broke the game open with a massive third frame to roll past Carvers Bay 16-1 in a game shortened to three innings by the run rule on Tuesday.
The Titans wasted no time getting started, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first. George Taflinger and Marshall Campbell each drew bases-loaded walks to force in runs before Reagan Huxford delivered a two-run single. Matthew Moekel followed with another RBI walk, and Tilman Campbell capped the inning with an RBI single.
Trinity added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly from Taflinger to extend the lead to 7-1, then put the game out of reach with a nine-run third inning. Huxford, Joe Snipes, and William Fox each recorded RBI hits in the frame, while Moekel, Eli Flowers, I'yhon Robinson, and Caleb Saleeby all worked bases-loaded walks to drive in runs as the Titans took full advantage of their plate discipline.
Marshall Campbell got the start on the mound and set the tone early, allowing just one hit and no runs over one inning while striking out two. Flowers came on in relief to help secure the win.
Huxford led the Titans offensively with three RBIs, going 2-for-2 from the seventh spot in the lineup. Trinity showed patience throughout the game, drawing 11 walks as Moekel, Campbell, and Saleeby each collected two. The Titans were also aggressive on the bases, swiping nine steals, with Moekel and Hucks Kirven recording multiple steals apiece.
Defensively, Trinity was flawless, not committing an error. Saleeby led the way in the field with seven plays.
Trinity Collegiate returns to action Wednesday as it hosts McBee in the last game before spring break. First pitch is set for 6 PM.
