Titans Roll to 48-8 win on Homecoming Night
Darlington, SC- The Trinity Collegiate Titans gave their homecoming crowd plenty to cheer about Friday night, dominating Camden Military Academy 48–8 in a complete team effort. The win improves Trinity's record to 5-2 and keeps the Titans undefeated in region play at 2-0.
Quarterback Davidson Lynch (Florence, SC/All Saints Episcopal Day School) led the way offensively, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns while also adding a rushing score. Lynch found Desmond Williams II (Florence, SC/Wilson High School) for the game's opening touchdown — an 11-yard strike — before connecting with Robert Mack (Hartsville SC/Hartsville Middle School) on a 47-yard score later in the first quarter to make it 14–0.
The Titans continued to pour it on in the second quarter. Andre Jackson, Jr. (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) broke free for a 56-yard touchdown run, and Lynch punched in another score from four yards out to stretch the lead to 27–0. Moments later, the defense got in on the action as Williams II intercepted a pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown, sending Trinity into halftime ahead 34–0. This was the third straight game with a pick six for Williams II, although his return last week was called back due to a block in the back penalty.
After a massive kickoff return to start the second half put the Spartans on the doorstep of the Titan endzone, the Trinity defense stood strong on four consecutive snaps from inside the five yard line to force a turnover on downs. On the very next snap for the Titan offense, Lynch hit Garrison Copeland (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) on a spectacular 92-yard touchdown pass. This is a career long passing play for both Lynch and Copeland. After Logan Jordan tackled the Camden Military punter for a 26-yard loss to set the offense up on the six yard line, Jackson took a handoff from Hucks Kirven (Florence, SC/All Saints Episcopal Day School), who was playing in relief of Lynch, for his second rushing touchdown of the night from six yards out to make it 48–0 through three quarters. Camden Military managed a late touchdown and two-point conversion in the fourth, but the outcome had long been decided.
Copeland was electric in the passing game, finishing with 139 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Mack added 98 total yards and a score. The Titans racked up 329 yards of offense, showing balance and big-play ability throughout the evening.
Defensively, Trinity was dominant from start to finish. Walker Willcox, Jr. (Florence, SC/Royall Elementary School) piled up 17 tackles, including four for loss in slightly more than two quarters of action. He also forced a fumble Johnathon Cottingham (Darlington, SC/Darlington Middle School) anchored the defensive front with nine tackles, an outstanding seven of which went for loss. Logan Jordan contributed four tackles, two going for loss, a pass breakup, and two interceptions in a stellar performance. The Titans held Camden Military scoreless for three quarters and forced multiple turnovers, setting the tone for the blowout victory.
With the win, Trinity Collegiate capped off a memorable Homecoming Night in front of a packed crowd at Kraikit Field. The Titans will look to carry their momentum into next week's matchup against Wilson Hall as the winner will stay undefeated in region play. Kickoff in Sumter is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
