Titans Fall to Swampcats on Senior Night
Darlington, SC- The Trinity Collegiate Titans dropped a hard-fought matchup on Friday night, falling 37–20 at home to Laurence Manning Academy. on senior night at Kraikir Field Despite strong performances from several offensive standouts, the Titans couldn't overcome a fast start from the Swampcats.
Quarterback Davidson Lynch (Florence, SC/All Saints Episcopal Day School) led the Trinity offense, throwing for 191 yards and two touchdowns. Both scoring strikes went to Garrison Copeland Copeland (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School), who had an impressive night with 85 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and a successful two-point conversion. Desmond Williams II (Florence, SC/Wilson High School) added a reliable target for Lynch, catching six passes for 70 yards, while Jy'ell Preston (Darlington, SC/Darlington Middle School) contributed 28 yards through the air.
On the ground, Robert Mack (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) paced the Titans' rushing attack with 77 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, including a 28-yard burst. Lynch added another 17 yards on scrambles.
Defensively, Walker Willcox, Jr. (Florence SC/Royall Elementary School) anchored the unit with a game-high 24 tackles, tying his own school record, including six for loss, while Mack added 10 stops of his own. Copeland and Oliver Brodie (Charleston, SC/Briggs Elementary School) each made key tackles for loss to keep the Titans within striking distance through much of the contest. Willcox also set a school record for single season tackles, surpassing Spencer Scott's 2021 13-game total of 133 in only in games.
The Titans continued to fight throughout the second half but were unable to close the gap as Laurence Manning sealed the win late.
Trinity Collegiate will look to bounce back next week as they prepare to face Florence Christian to close out the regular season.
