Titans Drop 4OT Season Opener at Northwood, 89–84
Summerville, SC- The Trinity Collegiate Titans opened their season with a marathon battle, falling 89–84 to Northwood Academy in an intense four-overtime thriller.
Despite tremendous effort, free throws proved costly for Trinity, as the Titans shot 16-of-45 (35.6%) at the line. Offensively, the Titans finished 22-of-50 (44%) from two-point range and 8-of-33 (24%) from three.
Davidson Lynch (Florence, SC/All Saints Episcopal Day School) led the Titans with 27 points, knocking down multiple clutch three-pointers to keep Trinity alive late in regulation and throughout overtime. Jy'ell Preston (Darlington, SC/Darlington Middle School) added a dominant 24-point, 15-rebound performance, controlling the paint and giving the Titans second-chance opportunities all night. The Titans battled through adversity as four of the five starters fouled out across the four overtimes, forcing the bench to step into pressure moments. Even shorthanded, Trinity continued to fight, extending the game until Northwood ultimately closed it out at the free-throw line.
Next up, the Titans head to the Heathwood Hall Classic (December 4–6), where they will open against Brookwood School (GA) in the first round.
