Titans Distance Crew Leads Strong Showing at West Florence Meet #1
Florence, SC- The Trinity Collegiate boys' track and field team opened its season with several strong performances at West Florence Meet #1 2026 on March 3 at the Florence Sports Complex. Competing against a field that included programs such as Hartsville, Wilson, and host West Florence, the Titans were led by standout efforts in the distance events.
Warren Highlights Distance Performances
Junior Jake Warren paced the Titans with a pair of top finishes in the distance races. Warren placed second in the 1600 meters, turning in a time of 5:21.45 to earn eight team points.
Later in the meet, he returned to the track for the 3200 meters, where he finished fourth in 11:45.67, once again contributing points for Trinity.
Peel Adds Another Podium Finish
Senior Sam Peel also delivered a strong run in the 1600 meters, finishing third overall with a time of 5:33.34. Peel's performance gave Trinity two of the top three finishers in the event and added four more points to the team total.
Basta Scores in the 3200
Sophomore Chase Basta rounded out the Titans' scoring in the distance races, placing sixth in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:11.83.
Sprint Performances
In the sprint events, freshman Dre'den Bethea represented Trinity in both the 100 and 200 meters. Bethea recorded a 11.88 in the 100 meters and later finished seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 24.18.
Teammate Hawkins Butler also competed in the 100 meters, clocking 12.96.
Trinity's early-season showing highlighted the strength of its distance group while also giving several younger athletes valuable experience on the track. The Titans will look to build on these performances as the season continues in upcoming meets.
