Another Record Night as Titans Swarm Yellow Jackets 18-4
Darlington, SC — The Trinity Collegiate girls lacrosse team delivered an impressive performance Tuesday evening, defeating Irmo High School 18–4 in a non-SCISA matchup. Fresh off the largest road win in school history, this game would be another record-setting outing as the Titans picked up their largest home win in school history.
The Titans controlled the game from the start, using strong draw control and an aggressive defensive effort to build separation and keep Irmo off balance throughout the contest. Trinity Collegiate dominated possession at the draw circle, winning 16 draws as a team to consistently generate offensive opportunities.
Those opportunites on the offensive end were cashed in by Anne Evans Scott (Florence, SC/All Saints' Episcopal Day School) with six goals on the night, Izzy Moore (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) added five, and 8th Grader Jane Hyman (Florence, SC/Royall Elementary School) recorded three goals and an assist to giver her four points on the night. Ashlynn Martin (North Conway, NH/Thomas Hart Academy) had a three-point outing with two goals and an assist. Ella Gray Camak (Hartsville, SC/Thomas Hart Academy) and Morgan Coker (Florence, SC/All Saints' Epsicopal Day School) each had a single goal to cap the scoring for the Titans.
A number of Trinity players also contributed on the offensive end with assists as Dawsey Kirven (Florence, SC/All Saints' Episcopal Day School) had a team high three, followed by Camak with two and Coker, Ashlynn, and Hyman adding a single assist each.
Camak and Scott each won seven draws to lead the Titans, while Ashlynn Martin added two. Camak also led the defensive effort with five ground balls.
Trinity Collegiate's defense applied steady pressure, finishing with 15 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Hope Driggers (Hartsville, SC/Home School) caused two turnovers, while Moore and Flora Byrd (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville Middle School) each contributed multiple ground balls as the Titans repeatedly forced Irmo into mistakes.
In goal, senior Mallory Wright (Darlington, SC/Emmanuel Christian School) anchored the back line and helped limit Irmo's scoring chances, allowing just four goals on the night against 13 saves.
With the victory, Trinity Collegiate continued to build momentum early in the season and will look to carry that energy into its next matchup.
