Titan Wrestling Competes at Brawl in the Hall
Columbia, SC- Trinity Collegiate School Wrestling competed in the annual Brawl in the Hall tournament at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School on January 10th, turning in several standout individual performances against a strong field of SCISA competition.
Leading the way for the Titans was Luciano Chavez, who captured the 120-pound championship. Chavez's title run featured multiple dominant wins, including three pinfalls and a technical fall. In the championship match, Chavez secured a dramatic sudden-death overtime takedown to earn a 6–3 victory over D. Plyler of Heathwood Hall.
Wyatt Ogburn also delivered an impressive performance at 215 pounds, finishing as the tournament runner-up. Ogburn earned two pinfall victories and capped his day with a thrilling sudden-death win in triple overtime, escaping in the final seconds to defeat C. Jeter of Union County by an 8–7 decision.
Mateo Chavez rounded out the podium finishes for the Titans, earning second place at 106 pounds. Chavez recorded a technical fall and a pin during his run, showcasing both skill and resilience throughout the tournament.
As a team, Trinity Collegiate finished seventh overall with 59.5 points, placing ahead of several SCISA programs in a competitive field that included Camden Military, Heathwood Hall, Patrick Henry Academy, Greenwood Christian, Thomas Sumter, and Augusta Christian.
The Titans continue to build momentum as the season progresses, with strong individual performances and hard-fought matches highlighting the program's growth. Trinity will be back in action on Friday, January 16th as they conclude their home season with an afternoon tri-match in Sonoco Gymnasium against Cardinal Newman and Lake City. The match is slated for a 1:30 PM start.
