Titans Fall to Panthers in Team Dual Playoff Matchup
Columbia, SC- Trinity Collegiate School opened SCISA playoff action with a first-round matchup against Pinewood Preparatory School, falling 57–16 in a challenging postseason dual held at Hammond School.
Despite the final score, the Titans had several strong individual performances against a deep Pinewood lineup. At 106 pounds, Mateo Chavez set the tone early with an impressive 18–3 technical fall victory, showcasing relentless pace and offensive control. At 120 pounds, Luciano Chavez continued the momentum, earning a pin at 3:52 to add valuable team points for Trinity.
In the upper weights, Wyatt Ogburn delivered a dominant performance at 215 pounds, earning a 17–1 technical fall and closing the dual on a high note for the Titans.
Pinewood capitalized on depth and several forfeits throughout the lineup, allowing them to build separation on the scoreboard. Trinity battled in the contested matches and gained valuable postseason experience, particularly for a young roster continuing to grow through high-level competition.
The Titans now turn their focus to the individual state championship on Feburary 14th at Cardinal Newman School as they look to finish year three of Titan wrestling strong.
