Titans Outlast West Florence in Marathon Match
Florence, S.C.- In a match that will be remembered for its grit and drama, the Trinity Collegiate Titans battled for over four and a half hours to defeat local rival and SCHSL 5A opponent West Florence High School in a marathon showdown.
The Titans struck early in singles play. Chandler Hyman (#1 singles) and Mahaley Swink (#2 singles) each delivered dominant straight-set victories to give Trinity an early edge. At #3 singles, Mary Woods Swink fought through a rollercoaster match; winning the opening set, dropping the second, and then clawing her way to a dramatic 12–10 win in the decisive tiebreaker. Her resilience set the stage for a winner-take-all doubles match.
With the outcome hanging in the balance, Swink and Hyman returned to the court for the #1 doubles showdown in a grueling contest that lasted over 90 minutes. After falling in the first set, the duo regrouped, storming back to claim the second and force a decisive super tiebreaker. Feeding off the energy of their teammates and fans, the Titan pair seized control and closed out the match 10–5, securing the hard-fought team victory.
