Titans Outlast Bruins 3-2 in Scrimmage Thriller
Darlington, S.C.- Varsity Girls' Volleyball opened their season in dramatic fashion with a five-set victory over South Florence High School in a scrimmage at Sonoco Gymnasium on Tuesday, August 12.
The Titans came out strong, taking the opening set 25–16 behind efficient attacking, hitting .318 as a team. South Florence responded by claiming the next two sets, 25–14 and 25–14, to put Trinity on the brink. Needing the fourth to stay alive, the Titans dominated 25–15 with a .308 hitting percentage to even the match.
In a tense, back-and-forth fifth set, Trinity rallied late to pull out a 15–13 win and seal the 3–2 victory in a match that lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes.
The Titans were led offensively by Logan Murray, who posted a team-high 14 kills while hitting an impressive .417, and Susie Carter, who added 11 kills and 3 blocks. Setter Emalee Watts dished out 28 assists while also serving 7 aces, providing crucial momentum swings throughout the night. Defensively, libero Anne Evans Scott anchored the back row with 22 digs, while Madeline Powell and Pinckney Riddle combined for 19 digs.
As a team, Trinity finished with 35 kills, 17 service aces, and 70 digs, showing grit and resilience in their season-opening scrimmage.
The Titans return to action on Monday, August 18, opening the regular season on the road at The King's Academy before hosting the Highlanders of Heathwood Hall on Tuesday, August 19.
